Using wireless data service for the building automation system is a way to see what's going on and have the system send e-mail or text alerts when there are problems. It's also the best way to deal with the IT / security issue. cradlepoint is 4-G and in most cases as fast as a "wired system with security protection software speed bumps". A years worth of service is less than the cost for a conversation with the IT department. It has local WIFI ability so you can access it from anywhere inside the building without the need to go through a cel tower.
